Nikolay Alekseev
Artist, curator and educator
Co-founder of the Voronezh Center for Contemporary Art
Artistic director of Null Gallery
He graduated from the Voronezh Art College. In 2009 he became one of the founders of the Voronezh Center for Contemporary Art and headed it in 2012. He is the curator of numerous exhibition projects realised in Russia and Europe. Since 2010 he has curated and run educational programmes at the Voronezh Center for Contemporary Art. He is a multiple nominee of the Innovation Prize and the Kandinsky Prize.
Nikolay Alekseev’s artistic method draws on the aesthetics of found objects, forms, video recordings and photographs, as well as on decentralized, "networked" storytelling. This attitude to image and text unites Alekseev with other representatives of the Voronezh art scene and with Russian artists of the generation of the "new boring". His works are held in major public and private collections in Europe and Asia.
